Zinc Iron
The zinc deposits can be further enhanced by alloying with small
amounts of Iron. This deposit is plated from an alkaline bath with the
level of Iron in deposit at 0.4-0.8%.
As with all zinc plating zinc iron is a sacrificial coating that will
continue to prevent corrosion even if a scratch penetrates down through
the coating to the substrate.
The plating of articles from this solution can be carried out by either
a rack or barrel operation. Zinc iron deposits can be in a black chromate
/ passivate ,a “deep” yellow to bronze type passivate or in a traditional
yellow colour still offering good corrosion protection
